Our client is a well known Government Science and Technology agency undertaking leading edge research delivering scientific services and providing specialised advice to government, industry, academia and other research organisations .


Based in Melbourne, this is a fixed term tenure of four years with full time hours and presents the perfect scenario for professionals to work for a key government authority.

Reporting to the Engineering and Capital Projects Manager or nominated Project Manager, the primary objective of the Construction Supervisor is to provide a high standard of contract/construction management support to the project and program managers for the delivery of complex and multi-disciplinary projects.

The Engineering and Capital Projects Unit provides comprehensive project management, engineering, technical and safety and reliability services and support for the organisation. There are four sections within the division: Strategic Asset Programs Office; Major Projects Delivery Office; Engineering and System Safety & Reliability.

The Construction Supervisor will provide quality construction management and technically sound engineering services to ensure the proper planning and management of major project construction activities. This will require ensuring all relevant requirements are specified in tender documents, negotiated into construction contracts and adhered to during the execution of the contract including commissioning. With guidance and support, manage small projects from conception to finalisation, including scope management, supervision, cost control, time management, risk management, quality/safety/environmental, contract administration, and contract management ensuring work is delivered on time and budget



To be successful in your application, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Trade or higher qualifications in relevant technical discipline and extensive supervisory experience as a contract/construction manager in building and or industrial environment
  • Electrical trade qualifications are highly desirable
  • Broad and extensive experience managing building and or industrial construction projects and or contracts
  • Experience in developing creative and systematic technical solutions
  • Good knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards, Codes and other statutory requirements, especially relating to engineering and building construction industries
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external customers
  • Willingness to proactively share knowledge, information and insight with team members
  • Demonstrated experience in successful customer management
  • Ability to think strategically, influence and negotiate
