CLIENT
Our client, operates a drug testing laboratory which specializes in the detection of drugs and related substances in biological fluids such as blood and urine. It also provides a drug testing service to industry in the areas of human workplace and OH&S. Due to growth, this busy Consulting Laboratory, is looking to employ an Analytical Chemist with excellent GCMS and LCMS experience on a permanent basis.
ROLE
The role of the Chromatography Chemist is to carry out drug screening of biological samples for clients across racing and human operations.
We are looking for person with initiative, a keen eye for detail, who has excellent time management, multi-tasking and communication skills, is a team player and is ready for their next career challenge.
You will be required to:
Run a variety of drug screening methods using both GCMS and LCMS techniques
Accurately check data produced by these methods and make recommendations for further investigation if required
Liaise closely with other team members to ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently;
Perform both qualitative and quantitative confirmatory analysis of suspected drug positives in equine, canine and human samples
Perform TCO2 confirmatory analysis of equine blood samples using ion-selective electrode instrumentation
Ensure instrumentation is maintained on a daily basis including calibration and evaluation of drug mix to confirm sensitivity and chromatography status
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:
Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Chemistry or related discipline up to Masters
Several years in a related field will see you short listed for this role
A minimum of five years LCMS / GCMS industry experience
Working knowledge of SPE techniques is also desirable but not essential
Problem solving, innovative thinking and excellent attention to detail is a must
Ability to multi-task and strong time management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member or autonomously
Be adaptable and flexible to deal with a varying work load
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Great work ethic and reliability are essential for this busy role
