Our client is an agency in the portfolio of the Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management. It was established in 1993 to centralise the registration of all agricultural and veterinary chemical (agvet) products into the Australian marketplace.

This agency is responsible for the assessment of the human safety and trade risk aspects of applications for the registration of agricultural and veterinary chemical products, approval of permits to use a chemical for a specific purpose, or the review of an existing chemical product and its uses.



Based in graphic Armidale in regional NSW, this role can be offered under various employment options, ideally as a permanent ongoing position, or on a fixed-term tenure of three or four years.

This EL 2 position has two direct reports at EL 1 as part of a professional small team. The Chief Information Officer role (CIO) will ensure the support and the realisation of strategic goals relating to all the information management, digital delivery, and technology functions.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, the CIO will be tasked with developing, implementing, and executing strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the agency’s information management and technology capabilities.



To be successful in your application, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science and/or Business
  • Proven ability to deliver the strategic Information and Communication Technology (ICT) direction and take decisive actions to ensure a high-quality service
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and experience in managing internal & external environments, with the capacity to collaborate with peers
  • Proven experience with managing IT service levels internally and externally, while leading and coordinating the outsourced ICT functions
  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation of new technologies, with a future-focused mindset
  • High-level communication and influencing skills with the ability to build trust through active listening & open and honest communication
