Our client is a multinational company that prides itself in the quality of the product they manufacture. Their Quality Control laboratory is NATA registered and committed to providing excellent customer service whilst being recognised for its strong Health, Safety and Environmental record.



This position is an ongoing, full-time contract and presents a great opportunity for graduate chemists with a few years experience or an experienced chemist to work in a dynamic, professional work environment.

Initially, the successful candidate will work normal hours, Monday to Friday, working in engine rooms and testing transportation fuels using Gas Chromatography. Further down the track, depending on the needs of the laboratory, you may be trained to test fuels using a variety of other methods, including automated and manual instruments such as Octane Engines, XRF, HPLC and Distillation units as well as various wet chemical techniques.

As the laboratory operates seven days a week, we need you to be flexible because this role may require you to work rotating shift (working 3 days on followed by 3 days off). The shifts are 10 hours each and can start as early as 7:00 am and finish as late as 8pm.

Person in this role will divide their time between performing tests in engine rooms and Gas Chromatography laboratory. 



The requirements for the role are:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science or similar
  • Few years of experience using GC in an industrial laboratory associated with chemical manufacturing such as oils, greases, lubricants or chemicals in general will be well regarded but not necessary
  • Experience HPLC and XRF
  • Sample preparation, manual and automatic titrations
  • An interest in fixing cars or bikes and fuels in general will be advantageous
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Report writing skills and computer literacy in English
  • Must have a good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the work place
  • Good time management skills, the ability to multi task and be calm
  • Able to work independently as well as being a good team player
  • Reliable with an excellent work ethic
  • Flexible to meet the requirements of the business
