With manufacturing facilities in south eastern Victoria and a strong presence in in Australia and Asia, our client is a well-known dairy processor, producing and marketing value-added products for the global food manufacturing market.
Specialising in creating products that deliver specific functional and sensory characteristics, our client has significant international market experience and a reputation for being a reliable supplier of high quality products.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the role of the Calibration Technician is to maintain, test and repair a variety of analytical and in-process instrumentation and equipment utilised in production / manufacturing ensuring that these instruments are calibrated accurately to a suitable standard.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting routine maintenance, writing SOPs for equipment use and training operators as required.
Conducting accuracy checks by carrying out routine checks against reference standards, ensuring calibration is accurate and repeatable while monitoring results for trends.
Developing and validating calibrations by conducting data and statistical analysis, producing reports, developing sampling and test methods and validating against test methods
Reporting of instrument calibration data to production and accuracy to management while communicating with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques
SELECTION CRITERIA
Tertiary qualifications in science or similar is preferred but not essential
Some experience in working in a laboratory environment
Previous experience in working with NIR equipment in food processing such as dairy would be highly regarded
Mechanical aptitude
Proven understanding of statistical methods, and mathematical techniques
Demonstrated ability to conduct experimental methodology
A knowledge of calibration techniques and procedures
Strong attention to detail
Must have a completer / finisher and logical approach to work
Good time management skills
IT Skills – (mid-level) Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, Database Systems
Ability to understand and interpret data and other information in order to complete calibration procedures
Proven ability to work in team environment
Flexible hours – weekend work and after hours as required.
