THE CLIENT
Our client boasts state of the art laboratories and an excellent reputation for their R&D and testing capabilities. As a leading analytical laboratory specialising in a broad spectrum of analyses, including trace and non-routine testing, they are diversifying into new markets where they can utilise their extensive experience and unique skills base.
THE ROLE
This newly created role will be primarily responsible for the development of the sport’s supplement testing and accreditation program. Sports supplements are commonly consumed by professional athletes but can be contaminated with performance enhancing drugs banned under the WADA code. This program aims to provide risk mitigation for both supplement manufacturers and sporting clubs to help ensure that products are free from performance enhancing substances and are safe to use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role is varied but the main responsibilities will include the following:
Investigation of the Sports Supplement Industry in Australia
Contacting major sports supplement manufacturers/distributors in Australasia to promote the adoption of a formal testing program
Fostering relationships with major sporting organisations and sports regulators to promote the use of accredited supplements by Australian athletes
Responsible for the preparation, negotiation and presentation of tenders
Responsible for the increase of market share of existing income revenue streams and the investigation of alternative sources based on the Company’s unique skills base
Formulation and implementation of the Company’s commercial strategy
Responsible for the planning/execution/development of the formal Sports Supplement Certification program including:
Management of the program on a routine basis to ensure it remains current
Development of marketing strategies to market/promote the service
Coordination and delivery of program to defined implementation guidelines.
Coordination of all commercial arrangements to company guidelines
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in Science/Business/Sales/Marketing or related field
Proven track record in business development
Proven track record in sales & marketing
Start-up venture and project management experience
Experience/knowledge of the sports industry in general, however specificunderstanding of the sports supplement industry, or sports doping control will be highly regarded
Knowledge of supplement regulations within Australia (TGA & FSANZ) would be advantageous but not essential
Ability to formulate competitive business plans and strategies
Be solutions focused with emphasis on both customers and markets
Externally focused – customers and markets
Demonstrated ability to provide innovative solutions
Strong organisation & critical evaluation skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer liaison skills
Strong written & verbal communication
Flexible to work outside office hours if needed
