CLIENT
Our client is a Herbal Medicines manufacturer established for over 25 years. They are at the forefront of herbal extracts and liquids manufacturing in the contract manufacturing industry and hold a GMP compliant TGA Manufacturing Licence. Their forte is the production of herbal extracts and liquids from single herbs to more complex formulae which are utilised in TGA approved products. Our client is committed to delivering a quality focused, professional service.
THE ROLE
This short term Microbiology Assistant role is available due to a busy period our client experiences in the upcoming months of December and January. This position is primarily responsible for the microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process product and finished product as necessary.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will also be responsible for laboratory equipment calibration, ordering of laboratory consumables and complaint investigations.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate independence and proficiency in performing routine microbiological testing procedures. You will need to have excellent time management and communication skills, be honest, punctual and trustworthy.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the overall maintenance and effectiveness of the Microbiology Lab
Purchase laboratory supplies when necessary
Ensure proper storage and maintenance of consumables
Assist in equipment maintenance and safe disposal of laboratory waste
Follow standard test methods and, where appropriate, identify potential improvements or modifications to those test methods
Perform all aspects of microbiological testing off raw materials, in-process products and finished products
Perform environmental testing within the clean room areas
Safely executing laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data in a timely and accurate manner
Accurately and reliably record results and observations using relevant equipment, instruments and, where appropriate, software
Understands and communicates results to Technical Manager and identify trends and anomalies in data
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Technical Manager and Operations Manager
Assist with customer complaint investigations
Independently interprets data and prepares summaries of work and results to be included in reports and presents this data in a timely manner.
Take personal responsibility for OH&S compliance within the laboratory
SELECTION CRITERIA
B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences with major in Microbiology
Minimum two years working experience in a laboratory setting within Pharmaceutical, Food or Complimentary Healthcare Industry
It is essential that you are proficient with standard Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Experience in all aspects of microbiological testing of raw materials and/or finished products within Pharmaceutical, Food, or Complimentary Healthcare Industry
Strong understanding and commitment to your own safety and that of others.
Proficient at developing and presenting data in a timely and accurate manner.
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy along with time management and organisational capacity.
Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated commitment to teamwork and collaboration
