Analytical Chemist – Supplement Drug Testing (The position has been filled)

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation set up in Victoria in 1988. It operates a drug testing laboratory which specialises in the detection of drugs and related substances in Victoria, as well as for interstate and overseas clients. In addition, our client also provides human drug testing services and a certification process for sports supplements.
Our client is seeking to employ an Analytical Chemist, with drug testing experience of sports supplements. The duties of this position include:
Performing routine drug testing on sports supplements, using both GCMS and LCMS techniques
Working with the company’s research scientists to develop new testing methodologies for sports supplement testing
Maintaining, reviewing and developing new and existing testing methodologies
Performing confirmatory analysis testing to identify suspected drug positive tests
Preparing reports on positive drug tests for sign off
Working with the Business Development Manager to schedule and complete drug tests in accordance with customer requirements
Liaising with clients as required
To be considered for this position, you will be required to meet the following selection criteria:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field as a minimum
Five or more years’ experience working as an Analytical Chemist (or in a related role), including significant experience with sports supplement drug testing
Strong LCMS and/or GCMS experience, in addition to a working knowledge of SPE techniques is desirable but not essential
Strong communication skills
Strong written skills, including experience with technical report writing
Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, LIMS (preferred, but not essential)
Excellent time management skills and a good work ethic
Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously as needed
Must be able to multitask and be flexible with priorities to meet client requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will be required to write reports and communicate with various stakeholders including clients
