ROLE
This exciting entry level position, is ideal for an Analytical Chemist with at least two to three years’ experience in a pharmaceutical Quality Control Laboratory or University Analytical Research Laboratory. It is a varied role and presents an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to enhance their skills and progress their career in a cutting edge, analytical drug development environment.
Some of the main duties associated with this permanent role include:
Analysis and characterization of API and drug product candidates using in-house or compendial methods
Receipt and release activities for raw materials required for in-house API manufacture
Assisting with the management of in-house stability studies on API and drug product samples
Maintaining detailed records of work and providing clear interpretation of own results both written and orally
Calibration and scheduled maintenance of scientific equipment
Contributing to the continuing development and maintenance of QMS, including writing and reviewing documents such as SOPs, protocols and reports
Assisting the Laboratory Supervisor in day-to-day activities associated with laboratory operations such as:
Ensuring all laboratory consumables are well stocked and standing orders are well managed
Management of laboratory waste disposal
Assisting with internal safety inspection schedules and OH&S meeting
Assisting with sample preparation and labelling and compound shipping between sites and to external parties
REQUIREMENTS
A true team player, the ideal candidate will ideally meet the following criteria:
A BSc or BSc (Hons) in Chemistry or similar
Prior experience in a pharmaceutical quality control laboratory or university analytical research laboratory will be highly regarded
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Knowledge and/or experience working in a regulated setting and specific knowledge of GLP, GMP, FDA, or ICH or ISO 17025 regulations and guidelines
Knowledge and experience in the use of various analytical methodologies and instrumentation including HPLC, LCMS or preparative LC
Strong organisational skills including the ability to keep detailed records
A diligent, hardworking individual with a strong work ethic
Flexibility to deal with a change in priorities at short notice
Personal attributes of flexibility and responsiveness, including being comfortable in taking direction from others
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in the team
Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task
Being willing to learn new skills and grow into the role
