CLIENT

Our client is a well known dairy processor and manufacturer. Their manufacturing facilities are based in South Gippsland, less than an hour’s drive from Cranbourne. Due to growth, they require an Analytical Chemist early in January.

 

ROLE

This is a twelve month, fixed term tenure, with all the benefits of a permanent, full-time role. At the end of the twelve months, the position will be reviewed with the likelihood of extension or permanency.

Some of the duties include:

  • Assisting with the method development and validation of new analytical instrumentation for the testing of dairy product.
  • Site Product Validation such as powder shelf life claims, allergen claims, ingredient claims
  • Formulation related activities such as:
  • Analysing raw materials to verify component quantity against C of A (or trended expectations)
  • Entering (C of A) results for raw materials into specialised software
  • Combining a range of ingredients into a formulation to produce a specified product.
  • Monitoring (via analysis) raw materials and trending results to predict changes in component’s e.g. protein or minerals in raw skim milk, to proactively alter ingredient ratios to ensure finished product remains within specified limits.
  • Assisting with ICP, GC and HPLC analysis as required.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in analytical chemistry or similar
  • An Honours degree with exposure to relevant analytical instrumentation or industry experience
  • Working knowledge of ICP-OES, HPLC and GC, especially method development and validation, highly regarded
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must have a pleasant personality and an excellent work ethic
  • You will be part of a dedicated and professional team, so you must be able to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to multi-task
