ROLE

This newly created 12-month position is ideal for an entry-level Analytical Chemist who wishes to enhance their skills and progress their career in a cutting edge, analytical drug development environment.

Some of the main duties associated with this role include:

  • Perform analysis and characterisation of API and drug product candidates using in-house or compendial methods
  • Assist with purity determination testing
  • Conduct stability studies on API and drug product samples
  • Carry out receipt and release of raw materials for in-house API production
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of scientific equipment
  • Assist in administrative tasks such as shipping of relevant samples, writing of SOPs, and maintaining consumables in the laboratory
  • Contribute to the continuous development of quality assurance systems including GMP
  • Maintain detailed records of work and providing a clear interpretation of own results both written and verbally
  • Ensure compliance with OHS, and adhere to all internal policies and procedures

 

REQUIREMENTS

A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A BSc or BSc (Hons) in Chemistry or similar
  • Prior experience (2–4 years) in a pharmaceutical quality control laboratory or university analytical research laboratory role is a must
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of various analytical methodologies and instrumentation including HPLC, IR, and NMR
  • Previous experience with the use of Karl Fischer
  • Stability testing of pharmaceutical products
  • Experience with raw material release
  • Knowledge in the use of LCMS or preparative LC would be advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to keep detailed records
  • A diligent, hardworking individual with a strong work ethic
  • Flexibility to deal with a change in priorities at short notice
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in the team and take direction as needed
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task
