THE CLIENT

Our client, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), is the Australian Government statutory agency responsible for the management and regulation of all agricultural and veterinary chemical products (AgVet) in Australia. It was established in 1993 to centralise the registration of all AgVet chemical products into the Australian marketplace. The APVMA regulate agricultural and veterinary chemicals to manage the risks of pests and diseases for the Australian community and to protect Australia’s trade and the health and safety of people, animals and the environment.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY – Senior Business Support Officer, APS6

The Business Technology team are responsible for strategic leadership and delivery of all ICT services in the APVMA. This includes contract management for outsourced services and direct support for systems, data and reporting services that are out of scope for managed services arrangements.

The Senior Business Support Officer will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and work closely with the Business Enabling Services program to:

  • Coordinate, manage, and support delivery of small upgrades or enhancements projects.
  • Capture and manage business requirements.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain intuitive user guidance materials for the purposes of training, communications and change management.
  • Plan and provide support for user and acceptance testing and execution.

The successful candidate will be flexible, highly proactive, customer-focused, and have a passion for working with people. You will also utilise your strong planning and organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in developing training, communications, and/or change management materials.

Based in Armidale in regional NSW, this role is an ongoing position within the Australian Public Service. A generous relocation package will be offered to the right candidate.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Coordinate, manage and support delivery of small upgrade or enhancement projects including the development and delivery of communications and change management activities.
  • Development and delivery of a training strategy and materials to assist industry and APVMA staff to utilise APVMA systems effectively.
  • Development of supporting guidance including Quick Reference User Guides.
  • Delivering training to APVMA staff and industry users.
  • Capture and manage business requirements for enhancements or changes to APVMA line of business systems.
  • Plan and support for system and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Provide support to the business for test preparation and execution.

 

Please Note—The successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship and be willing to undergo assessment by AGSVA to obtain a security clearance and to maintain the required level of clearance while in this role.

 

REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with a broad variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed administrative, organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills in business process analysis, requirements capture and test planning for requirements traceability.
  • Experience in leading small-to-medium system change projects, including a track record of developing and delivering intuitive training, communications and change management materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in ICT, workplace training or a related discipline.
  • Experience or qualifications in workplace training and assessment.
